Management
Heide Schuster studied architecture in Damstadt, Germany, and deepened her formerly self learned knowledge about energy and sustainability at the Architectural Association in London, Great Britain – one of the worldwide most acknowledged architectural schools holding one of the worlds eldest master programmes for sustainable design. Back from Great Britain she worked for different architectural offices. Sustainability as a topic in the general building practice still was not in place.
Science + Teaching
Consequently she went to one of the rare Institutes for Climatic Architecture at the University of Dortmund existing that time. She researched, taught and developed prototypes in co-operation with the building industry. Finally she did a PhD about “Daylight in the Eye of a User”. During that time she worked as a freelance architect and successfully took part in competitions.
Planning + Realising internationally
Between 2007 and 2013 she was responsible for the foundation and management of WSGreenTechnologies GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany. Within this leading task she realised a range of ideas and worked at projects around the world. Furthermore she was a co-initiator of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) in Germany and was deeply involved in the development of the first German certification system in the built environment.
In 2013 she founded the BLAUSTUDIO.
From September 2014 to October 2017 she held a Professorship for Energy Design at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
Topics include: Certification of buildings, daylighting in buildings, urban design issues, microclimatic studies as well as general lectures about sustainable and energy efficient architecture.
Furthermore she was involved in the training of DGNB Auditors and herself holds the Auditor for several building types and urban districts.
